A variety of products have been introduced to detect whether text is generated by a LLM. However, this is a challenging problem, and in my experience, the attempts I’ve explored have performed poorly. I was able to generate text that was not flagged, while other text I typed received false positives. Consequently, I believe these tools are not yet reliable.
Consider this a word of caution: if you decide to implement these tools, be aware that their detection capabilities are currently inadequate. In my informal testing, the results varied so significantly that I would deem any output unusable. Therefore, it is important to note that one should not confront anyone based on these results.

ChatGPT 4omni mini
I created a text in ChatGPT for Omni.

It’s rather uncertain, but it already claims there’s a 12% chance it was AI-generated.

Llama3
I created a text in Llama 3.

Here, the detection rate is significantly higher, indicating that it is 93% likely to be AI-generated.

Conclusion
My conclusion is that, unless there is a significant improvement in these tools, they cannot currently be considered a trustworthy signal.
