New Kudu for Linux App Service

Already published in February 2020 with the “preview”-state, the new Kudu was published on Microsoft’s website. But until recently, I was also not aware that this existed. Now in July 2024, the default link from the Azure portal still leads to the old Kudu, with the new Kudu only available if you know it’s there.

You can find the new Kudu while following the regular Advanced Tools link in the Azure Portal.

Now you find yourself on the regular “old”-Kudu.

Adding /newui to the path will now bring you to the new Kudu.

Apart from the more modern look, you will notice two notable changes. Similar to the Windows Kudu, you can now switch between instances. Additionally, you will have access to a nice file manager, and you are no longer limited to using only SSH and Bash to navigate the file system.
