Time tracking is a fundamental task in most companies. I used to use Clockify for a few years, primarily for its API access and the native Windows client with the mini counter. However, I frequently encountered issues with the client logging me out, crashing, or syncing incorrectly. By the summer of 2024, I had reached my limit.
I had been using it for many years, but the frustrations over the issues became so overwhelming that I bit the bullet and scrapped Clockify.
The worst experience I had with Clockify was in May 2024, and it was painful enough to prompt me to search for an alternative.
Constant errors indicating that the token is not valid used to be part of my day.
If this happens, you need to log in again.
Once I was logged in and started tracking my work, I noticed that the web timer and the Windows timer were out of sync.
I also received reminders to track my time, even though the timer was already running.
The client has a refresh feature that regularly causes an error.
This did not resolve my issue, but it did restart the app, requiring you to log in again.”
I had been using Clockify since 2019 and was never particularly satisfied with it. However, switching time trackers can be time-consuming and challenging. In May 2024, I encountered even more issues than before, which prompted me to look for an alternative tool. I discovered Toggl, and it has proven to be an excellent replacement. After using it for three months, I haven’t encountered any errors.
I’m not affiliated with either service, but if you need a time tracker, I would recommend choosing Toggl over Clockify.
